“Invite” is a common verb, but is becoming used more and more as a noun as well, synonymous with “invitation”.
Example (business): “Have you accepted my meeting invite?”
“Invite” as a noun has actually been used for hundreds of years, although is becoming more common now, probably as people like to speak and text with shorter words.
Stress on first syllable for noun, second syllable for verb.
However, “invitation” is a safer bet because “invite” still might be considered informal or wrong by some people (even though it isn’t).
